Bartlesville, OklahomaCompleted 1956

About This Building

The only skyscraper Wright ever built — "the tree that escaped the crowded forest."

Price Tower is the only skyscraper Frank Lloyd Wright ever completed. Originally designed in the 1920s as a multi-use tower for New York City, the design was finally realized in Bartlesville, Oklahoma for oil magnate Harold Price. Wright called it "the tree that escaped the crowded forest." The tower features a distinctive copper-clad exterior that has weathered to a rich green patina. It now operates as the Price Tower Arts Center.
