Nathan G. Moore House

Oak Park, IllinoisCompleted 1895

About This Building

Wright's only Tudor Revival — rebuilt after a fire in a more Prairie spirit.

The Nathan G. Moore House is unusual in Wright's output — it was originally designed in a Tudor Revival style at the client's insistence, making it one of the few times Wright worked in a historical idiom. After a fire in 1922 destroyed the upper floors, Wright rebuilt the house in a more characteristically Prairie manner, blending the original lower floors with a new upper story that shows his mature sensibility. It remains a private residence on Forest Avenue.
