Warren Hickox House

Kankakee, IllinoisCompleted 1900

About This Building

The companion Prairie house to the Bradley House — both designed by Wright in 1900 on the same Kankakee street.

The Warren Hickox House stands at 687 South Harrison Avenue in Kankakee, directly adjacent to the Harley Bradley House, and was designed by Wright in the same year. The two houses together represent one of the earliest and most concentrated demonstrations of the emerging Prairie Style. The Hickox House is slightly more modest in scale than the Bradley House but shares the same horizontal emphasis, overhanging eaves, and integration of porch and landscape. It remains a private residence.
