About This Building

A Usonian on Taliesin Drive in Kalamazoo — one of three Wright houses on the same street.

The Robert Levin House (1949) at 2816 Taliesin Drive in Kalamazoo is one of three Frank Lloyd Wright houses on the same remarkable residential street — a concentration of Usonian architecture found nowhere else in Michigan. The Levin House is a characteristic late Usonian: single-story, board-and-batten siding, in-floor radiant heating, and an open plan organized around the hearth. The street itself — Taliesin Drive — was named in honor of its Wright houses. It is a private residence. Rick McNees documents the Kalamazoo Wright houses on the Wright-Site archive.
